Vancouver, BC, May 31, 2012, – Canada Place is pleased to announce the talent line-up for Canada Day at Canada Place 2012 presented by Coast Capital Savings on Sunday, July 1.
This year’s celebration will mark the 25th anniversary of Canada Place hosting the award winning event and honour the country’s 145th birthday. Canada Place will offer a full day of free family fun. The city’s largest waterfront party will include appearances from Juno award-winners Spirit of the West and Alex Cuba, along with 25 amazing music and dance performances. The main attractions are Canuck Road, a 65 foot tall geodome showcasing the Northwest Territories, and the Great Canadian Art Experience.

Canada Day at Canada Place took over the streets, Canada Place, Jack Poole Plaza, and Harbour Green Park as the nation came together to cheer, sing, dance and play on our country’s 144th birthday. The waterfront party was followed by the ever-popular 3rd annual Canada Day Parade and spectacular two-barge Burrard Inlet Fireworks Show.

Vancouver, BC – Internationally recognized Canadian artist, William Meire, has teamed up with Canada Place to launch the compelling art exhibit Face of Canada, at Canada Day at Canada Place 2011, presented by Coast Capital Savings.
The awe-inspiring art exhibit features over 100 original oil portraits of notable Canadians who have helped shape the diverse fabric of our nation. On July 1st guests will have the opportunity to see larger than life portraits of renowned Canadians including hockey great Bobby Hull, Sir. John A MacDonald, Chief Dan George, Lawren Stewart Harris, Sir Frederick Banting, John Candy, Anne Murray and Michael J. Fox.

This year Canada Place celebrated across the country in both Vancouver and Ottawa where Canada Place’s “Canadian Spirit Booth” made its debut at Canada Day in the Capital.
Canada Place Corporation is a winner of the prestigious 2010 Gold Quill Award for excellence in business communication, presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) at last night’s Gold Quill Award Gala Dinner. Canada Place competed with peers from 28 countries to capture an Award of Merit in the Communication Management: Special Events category for Canada Day at Canada Place 2009.
Canada Place won the Canadian Event Industry’s National Star Award for Best Public Entertainment Event. The award was announced Friday, March 26 at the 2010 Star Awards Gala in Toronto, ON. As Canada’s national icon on the West Coast, Canada Place hosted over 675,000 people for the marquee national celebration complete with street festival, parade and fireworks on Canada Day 2009.
