Tegan and Sara
Twin sisters born in Calgary, Alberta and now residing in Vancouver, BC, Tegan and Sara’s career numbers are impressive – over 1 million albums sold, 7 Gold certifications, 1 Double Platinum certification, 3 Juno Awards, 2 Polaris Prize nominations, and a Grammy nomination. But even more impressive is the conviction that has driven Tegan and Sara’s relentless evolution as artists. Transitioning from acoustic roots to indie rock royalty in the mid 2000s, with widely-acclaimed albums So Jealous (2004) and The Con (2007), they began the path of reinvention that continues to inform their creative identity today.
The Fugitives
A folk collective headed by songwriters Adrian Glynn and Brendan McLeod, the band has toured extensively through Canada, Western Europe, and the UK. They’re joined by banjo player Chris Suen (Viper Central) and violinist Carly Frey (The Coal Porters). Over the past twelve years, they’ve earned a reputation for unforgettable live shows, brimming with complex harmonies, infectious storytelling and top-notch musicianship. As the CBC has it: “This show is simply brilliant”. Performance highlights include major folk festivals across Canada, headlining slots in overseas Americana festivals, and a 2019 sold-out run across Germany.
Murray Porter
Blues Man Murray Porter’s music career has taken him all over the world for the last 40 years. He’s a proud Mohawk man from Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in southern Ontario, who now lives on Squamish Nation unceded territory in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Murray may have a blues soul to the core, but he also grew up on rock and roll, R & B and country music. In 2022 and 2023, he was nominated for `Blues With A Feeling’ award for Lifetime Achievement from the Maple Blues Awards, Canada’s national blues awards. Whether he is playing an intimate venue for local blues fans, as a solo, duo, trio or with a four-piece
band, or on a festival stage to thousands of music aficionados, Porter’s love of performing comes across clear and strong. He has been compared to Dr. John, Joe Cocker and even Elton John! Robbie Robertson has called Porter “a master bluesman.” He captivates audiences wherever he performs and makes new fans…and they never leave his show disappointed.
Adam Woodall Band
Adam Woodall has been in the live entertainment business for over two decades. At the start of his career, Adam went through the ranks performing in a multitude of different bands and was a gun for hire playing guitar and harmonica as well as singing for various studio projects. His influences include such performers as John Mayer, Norah Jones, Elton John and Michael Buble, Jason Mraz and David Grey.
Adam’s bands have performed as opening acts for artists including Colin James, Sass Jordan, Tower of Power, Robben Ford and Junkhouse. Adam and his two current projects, The Adam Woodall Band and Rosco, have always captivated people upon the first sound of their unique and engaging style. Whether with a band or as a solo performer, Adam is very intuitive and gives people what they want.
Zaki Ibrahim
Throughout her career, from Vancouver to South Africa to Toronto and many points in between, Ibrahim has worked against the encroaching systems and machinery that would limit or dilute her vision. It’s impossible to imagine the future if you can’t escape the present. There, in the hypercurious process of transposing atomic-level details into big ideas and back again, songs emerge. Ibrahim’s work pushes back against binaries, against reductiveness, against the clenching muscles of expectation. “Planets isn’t just a product of black American or South African music styles; its multiple identities make it distinctly Canadian,” writes critic Anupa Mistry for Pitchfork. “It’s the work of an optimist whose voice wasn’t silenced by the confines of an unimaginative industry; it’s expansive in effort, and by sheer existence.
Described as “a retro-Afrofuturist vision sending listeners on a journey through 40 years of electronic music” (Nuvo), Ibrahim’s music brings elements of spoken word, hip hop, soul, house and 70s pop together, filtered through the prismatic and often contradictory lenses of personal, historical and scientific relativities. Even the concept of diaspora seems to fall short of capturing the vivid vibrational multitudes of Ibrahim’s scope.
DJ O Show
Orene Askew, aka DJ O Show, brings energy and expertise to every event she DJ’s and hosts. She brings professionalism and passion and remains true to her love for hip hop and R&B, incorporating beats to ensure you never want to leave the dance floor! With an outgoing personality and friendly demeanor, O Show is one of the easiest DJs to work with. From Vancouver to Toronto, Las Vegas to Texas, DJ O Show keeps the dance floor packed, working with clients to put together unique packages and customized playlists for weddings, birthdays, holiday parties, corporate events, restaurant and club openings, charity fundraisers, youth conferences, and pride events in her city! Coming from a diverse background, O Show is driven by her passion. She is Afro-Indigenous and a proud member of the Squamish Nation. Feeling as though she stood out in a unique way, she embraced both her cultural backgrounds and incorporates the teachings she has learned into everything she does.
School of Rock Vancouver
School of Rock Vancouver offers camps and programs for all skill levels and ages where students can learn guitar, bass, keys, drums or vocals. Combining 1-1 lessons with group band practices, along with live performances on stage, it is where students grow into real musicians and rock stars in their community! With a vibrant studio and rehearsal spaces, School of Rock is really one of the coolest places to learn music! In addition to three annual seasonal shows, School of Rock is always looking for opportunities to have our talented students perform in the community and at events around the Vancouver Lower Mainland! Most recently we performed at FanExpo Vancouver at the Vancouver Convention Centre, Garlic Festival, and Hyack Festival Parade for which we were honoured to win the Mayor’s Award for Best Band! Our last seasonal show which was held at the Blarney Stone in Gastown was a huge hit with the sold out crowd.
Tayos
Tayos is an energy filled rock band hailing from Chilliwack B.C. With a vast discography including many originals and covers ranging from Bob Dylan to Led Zeppelin, Tayos has a certain sound and energy that will leave you both satisfied and wanting more. A classic four piece band setup they’re sure to keep you entertained and awestruck.
Michaela Slinger
Michaela Slinger is a Vancouver-based pop singer-songwriter and “legendary songbird in the making” (MRG Group). Her new album ‘This Can’t Last Forever’ is “sonically ambitious […] and infectiously joyful” (RANGE Magazine), showcasing Slinger’s unique mix of singer-songwriter lyricism and catchy pop melodies. Written between Vancouver, Nashville, Los Angeles, and Toronto, she collaborated with some of Canada’s finest on this record, including Khalid Yassein (Wild Rivers) and Ryan Stewart (Carly Rae Jepsen).
Michaela was the cover of Amazon Music’s ‘Fresh Folk and Acoustic’ playlist and featured on SiriusXM’s Poplandia ‘About To Break’ program. She embarked on a 19-show North American tour in May and June, and commands the stages with her stop-you-dead vocals and unexpectedly hilarious stage banter. After her debut LP ‘Panorama’ (604 Records) received US and CAN radio play, a #2 peak on Stingray Indie, and her first festival stage performances in 2021, a skeptical Michaela met with a psychic who foretold the international writing and touring process for her second album. ‘This Can’t Last Forever’ is ultimately a statement of fact—the sole, inescapable condition of living that Michaela works to accept on this record.
Rachel Beau
Born and raised in the heart of Niagara, Rachel has been performing since the age of five. Rachel uses her strengths to help enrich the lives of children & adults through the arts. A professional entertainer who has starred in a variety of events across the country primarily focusing on children’s entertainment! Entrepreneur and graduate of the Theatre Performance Conservatory Program at Humber College, Rachel has an extensive background in Dance, Fashion and Musical Theatre. Along with kids high energy self-confidence building programs, Rachel dedicates her time to creating entertainment driven interactive parties! Rachel encourages her guests to live out their passions through music, dance and performance.
Perry Erlich’s Showstoppers
Perry Ehrlich’s ShowStoppers is a GLEE troupe that appears in concert, on radio and TV, and at numerous galas, awards dinners, corporate and charitable events throughout BC. ShowStoppers first appeared on Canada Day at Canada Place on July 1, 2002 – 20 years ago! Other performances include with Barry Manilow and Eric Church at Rogers Arena; with the legendary troupe FOREIGNER at various venues; on the Variety Club Telethon; singing the anthems for the Vancouver Canucks; and at the PNE. Members of ShowStoppers previously participated in Perry’s GOTTA SING! GOTTA DANCE! musical theatre summer camp – now heading into its 28th year at the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver.
